Outstanding Employee Awards
RSU #20 continues the tradition of recognizing employees for outstanding performance. Employees are nominated by their peers and then selected by a committee. The following are the award categories for RSU #20:
Outstanding Regional Employee
This award will be presented to one employee who has consistently demonstrated excellence in job performance and who is constantly working for the betterment of the school district. All district employees except teachers are eligible for this award. (Examples: educational technicians, bus drivers, custodians, cooks, study hall monitor, secretaries, and any other district employees who are ineligible for the teacher awards.)
Outstanding Classroom Teacher
This award will be presented to one K-5, one 6-8, and one 9-12 classroom teacher who have consistently demonstrated excellence in classroom instruction. Itinerant and special services teachers are eligible for these awards and should be listed under either the elementary or secondary classification.
RSU #20 Service Award
This award will be presented to an individual who is constantly working for the betterment of the Region. The individual who receives this award should demonstrate service to the Region outside of their regular job description. All RSU #20 employees are eligible for this award.

On August 28, 2012, the 2011-2012 awards were presented to the following employees at the Opening Day Inservice at the Belfast Area High School:

Outstanding Classroom Teacher K-5: Diane Gilmore, Third Grade Teacher at the Searsport Elementary School
Outstanding Classroom Teacher 6-8: Steven Groening, Technology Education Teacher, Troy Howard Middle School
Outstanding Classroom Teacher 9-12: Dawn Staples-Knox, Science Teacher, Searsport District High School
RSU #20 Service Award: Samantha Runco, Guidance/Social Worker, Searsport District Middle/High School
