Outstanding Employee Awards Presented August 29, 2016

Outstanding District Employee:  MYRON HERSOM, Bus Driver

Myron as worked, 44 years for the district using minimal sick time.  Myron always has a positive attitude, rarely complains, and never says a negative word about anyone.  He is willing to do whatever tasks are assigned, and work whatever hours are needed.  Myron is loved by the students with whom he comes in contact, and is a silent pillar of the school community.


Outstanding Classroom Teacher K-5:  KAREN BRASSBRIDGE, Grade 1 Teacher at the Searsport Elementary School

Karen has a clear understanding of child development which she uses every day in every lesson.  She is calm, friendly and shows empathy for every child, especially those with challenges.  Expectations are clear and consistent, and behavior is managed in a calm matter of fact manner.


Outstanding Classroom Teacher 6-12:  MICHAEL VASILIAUSKAS, Searsport District Middle School Teacher.  

“Mr. V” brings skill and enthusiasm to every class, coming up with creative projects and assignments that engage students.  He is a leader among his immediate colleagues. Mr. V also demonstrates teaching on the athletic fields as well, coaching a variety of sports.


Outstanding Service Award:  GEOFFREY CYR, Technology Integrator

Geoff consistently goes above and beyond the job description to support both staff and students in the district.  He has developed and exciting and enriching curriculum for students and interesting, useful professional development for teachers.  He works long hours, and devotes many unpaid days for various projects within the school community.  He has an upbeat, enthusiastic attitude, excellent rapport with students, staff, and community members and is an ambassador for the district.  He is the leader for the district’s LEGO Robotics projects.
