Home Instruction

Maine law requires that anyone wishing to homeschool their children must complete a Notice of Intent and then file the Notice with both the Department of Education and the Superintendent's Office in your local school unit.  An annual assessment is also required.

  • Online submission: Home Instruction Portal (one submission process for both first / subsequent year of home instruction)

  • Paper form: Notice of Intent to Provide Home Instruction (PDF updated and in current use as of October 2020) Submit to the resident Superintendent's office only - please do not submit duplicate paperwork to the Maine Department of Education.
