Tomorrow (October 4, 2023) around 2:20 pm (1430hrs), FEMA will be conducting a national alert test on all TV and Radio Stations and on every cellular phone in the Nation. The Emergency Alert System (EAS) will be broadcast over TV and Radio. The Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) system will be sent to every cellular phone.
The Waldo County EMA office would like to find out how successful the WEA cell phone test was. If you have a moment following the test, we would love to get an email from you with the following information:
- Did you receive the message on your cell phone or not?
- Who is your carrier (AT&T, US Cellular, Verizon, etc.)
- What was your approximate location (street and town)
This will allow us to determine which carriers have the best success rate and where the signal can be received. Even if you didn’t receive the message (by say 3:00pm), we’d like to know.
Thank you in advance. Please feel free to send this message to others.
