21 March 2024 failed message blast to RSU #20 student households

On 21 March 2024, email, text, and voice messages about the two hour delay did not go out to RSU #20 student households as intended. Notifications did get posted on WLBZ, WABI, www.rsu20.org, and the RSU #20 social media pages. Once the messaging error was discovered, we opened a support ticket with our messaging provider at 06:58 AM EDT on 21 March 2024. After several exchanges with Support between 21 and 26 March 2024, Support determined the root cause of the issue to be a missed configuration on our side for the new version of the messaging system. RSU #20 was notified at 3:44 PM EDT on 26 March 2024 of the steps to resolve the issue. We took corrective action on 27 March 2024, notified Support at 08:19 AM EDT 27 March 2024 of the action taken, and scheduled a Community Notice message for 08:00 AM EDT 1 April 2024 to test the new settings (Community Notice messages are only delivered via email and text, with no voice messages). The 1 April 2024 messages went out via email and text as expected and were verified in the messaging system after action reports. Subsequent messages on 3 April and 5 April announcing a school cancellation and a 2 hour delay, respectively, were processed correctly. The messaging system after action reports, for both 3 April and 5 April, indicate all recipients received at least one of the delivery modes (email, voice, or text) depending on the method of notification those recipients have selected.

Note: Because Support had not yet determined the root cause of the issue from 21 March 2024, email, text, and voice messages that went out to all RSU #20 student households on 25 March 2024 regarding the closing of school due to boiler and water issues were sent using the old version of the messaging system.
