Seeking candidates for K–12 Student Activities & Communications Coordinator

Regional School Unit No. 20 is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to serve as the
K–12 Student Activities & Communications Coordinator. This is a full-time, year-round
position responsible for leading a comprehensive student activities program and managing
district communications to support student engagement and enhance public awareness of school
initiatives.


Position Overview:
The successful candidate will oversee all middle and high school athletic and extracurricular
programs, ensuring they operate efficiently, equitably, and in accordance with district policies
and Maine Principals’ Association (MPA) guidelines. In addition, the Coordinator will manage
internal and external communications, promoting RSU 20’s programs, events, and achievements
through multiple media platforms.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Coordinating and supervising middle and high school athletics, clubs, and co-curricular activities
  • Scheduling events, transportation, and facility use in collaboration with building administrators
  • Hiring, supervising, and evaluating coaching staff
  • Managing inventory, equipment, and budget for student activities
  • Ensuring compliance with eligibility requirements and student health documentation
  • Serving as site manager for home events and overseeing event logistics
  • Developing written and visual content for newsletters, press releases, social media, and the district website
  • Maintaining a strong digital presence to support community engagement and public relations
  • Collaborating with local media and community organizations to promote the district’s work

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience coordinating youth programs, athletics, or school-based events
  • Strong written, verbal, and digital communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Proficiency in common computer applications, web content management, and social media platforms

Preferred:

  • Postsecondary degree in education, sports management, or communications
  • Certification as an Athletic Director (215)
  • Experience in coaching and/or school public relations
  • Familiarity with the RSU 20 community and its values

Contract Details:

  • Full-time, 12-month position
  • Reports to: Building Administrators and Superintendent
  • Supervises: Coaching staff, activity leaders, and student program personnel
